Talking about death is a very difficult thing. However, every family needs to spend a little bit of time preparing critical documents in case of major life events.

Without these documents, things can get incredibly difficult and contentious. Medical care may be delayed or your life may be extended (at a high cost) against your wishes. Your children may have problems obtaining your medical records. In the case of death, family members may spend weeks and months arguing over what your wishes were. If you have young children, it will be difficult to discern who you wish to take guardianship.
